Gin Gimlet
A lovely tangy and fresh cocktail with a fine history. Back in the 1800s, this cocktail was drunk at sea after it was discovered that lime juice could prevent scurvy thanks to its vitamin C content.
The recipe was settled in a 1953 novel, in which the author Raymond Chandler wrote that a gimlet is half gin and half lime syrup – nothing else.
Ingredients
- 6 cl gin
- 6 cl lime syrup (see our recipe here)
Method
Put the gin, lime syrup and ice cubes in a shaker and shake well. Strain into a chilled glass.
