2015

The Roots of BAR DJUS

Founder and owner Daniel Szylit left his position in the financial industry in 2015 to explore and build something new. He bought a cargo bike and began selling freshly pressed juice on the streets of Copenhagen under the name Juice & Jokes. With every purchase, customers received a joke along with their juice.

2016

The Early Days

In 2016, he was asked if he could supply freshly pressed juice for wholesale. Without hesitation – and without much experience – his answer was yes. The cargo bike was parked in the basement, and BAR DJUS was established. After the first year, fueled by courage and very little sleep, Daniel gained a deeper understanding of the challenges within the fresh juice market and the needs of his customers. They were looking for a stable price for 100% natural, organic cold-pressed juice all year round. The challenge was the fluctuating prices in the fruit market, making it difficult to maintain consistent pricing throughout the year. After many trials and different approaches, the solution became clear: cold-pressed frozen juice – without compromising on quality – allowing for more stable pricing. With frozen lime, lemon, and ginger juice, customers benefit from extended shelf life of up to 24 months. This longer shelf life also means fewer purchases, easier logistics, and a faster response to unexpected demand.

2017

From Fresh to Frozen

In 2017, we cracked the code and perfected a freezing technique that preserves the natural qualities of the juice. It took about two years for the market to fully recognize the advantages of frozen juice and its quality compared to freshly pressed alternatives. Frozen juice opened up new possibilities and made it possible to export thanks to its extended shelf life. With a strong commitment to quality and community, BAR DJUS expanded its reach.

2019

Expansion and Recognition

In 2019, we began supplying our organic juice to prestigious hotels, renowned restaurants, and well-known bars – not only in Denmark, but across the Nordic countries. The quality of the product inspired professionals to use it in a wide range of creations, as well as in competitions such as the Danish Cocktail Championship and several other Nordic competitions.

2024

From Frozen Juice to Crystal Clear Ice

In 2024, BAR DJUS began a collaboration with iCY – The Ice Cooperation, joining forces to bring high-quality products into the hands of hospitality professionals. Today, BAR DJUS exports to Norway, Sweden, and the Faroe Islands, among other markets. The juice journey has only just begun… As we look ahead, we are excited to continue expanding across the European market.

2025

Today and Tomorrow

In 2025, we aim to become the leading choice for high-quality, cold-pressed frozen juice in the B2B sector. We continue to innovate, explore new flavors and blends, and constantly seek the next step forward in juice. Our goal remains unchanged: to deliver the best-tasting, most sustainable juice solutions to culinary professionals everywhere.
