Founder and owner Daniel Szylit left his position in the financial world in 2015 and was dedicated to creating and exploring a new area. He bought a cargo bike and sold freshly squeezed juice in the streets of Copenhagen under the name Juice & Jokes. At every purchase, customers got a joke with their juice.
The Early Days
In 2016, he was asked if he would supply freshly squeezed juice for wholesale. And without knowhow he´s answers were yes. The cargo bike was parked in the basement and BAR DJUS was established. After the first year, with lots of courage and barely enough sleep, Daniel understood the market’s challenges with freshly squeezed juice and the customer’s needs. Customers wanted a more stable PRIS for 100% natural and organic cold-pressed juice all year. The challenge was the floating PRISs in the fruit market, which made it difficult to have a fixed PRIS all year. After many attempts and different proposals, the solution was cold-pressed frozen juice without compromising on quality, and the PRIS could be kept more stable. With the frozen lime juice, lemon juice and ginger juice, customers get extended shelf life – exactly 12 months. The extended shelf life also means fewer purchases, easier logistic and quick response to unexpected demand.
From fresh to frozen
So in 2017 we craked the code and perfectioned a technique of freezing that still keeps the juice proprieties. It took two years before the market began to see the benefits of the frozen juice and its quality compared to freshly squeezed juice. The frozen juice has opened new opportunities and makes it possible to export because of the long shelf life. With a steadfast commitment to quality and community, Bardjus expanded its reach.
Expansion and Recognition
In 2019, we started delivering our organic juice to prestigious hotels, renowned restaurants and well-known bars not only in Denmark, but throughout the Nordic countries. The quality of the product inspired people to use it in various creations and in competitions such as the Danish Cocktail Championship and several other Nordic competitions.
From frozen citrus juice to premium clear ice
In 2024, Bardjus partnered with iCY - The Ice Cooperation, joining forces to reach a common denominator of bringing a premium product to hospitality professionals' hands. Today, BAR DJUS exports to Norway, Sweden, and the Faroe Islands, among other places.The juice adventure has only just begun… As we look to the future, we are excited about expanding further into the European market.

By 2026, we aim to become the leading choice for premium cold-pressed frozen juices in the B2B sector. We continue to innovate, exploring new flavors and blends, and are always looking for the next big thing in juice.
